Upon starting, Libtech Spine Labels will scan your Bibliotech data and list Call Numbers for all Marked items in Left Hand Side Window.

You may select all items by clicking on the [Select All] button, or you can select by holding down the [CTRL] key and clicking on the desired call numbers.

NOTE:   Once you have printed a range of call numbers they will disappear from the list.  They are NOT unmarked in Bibliotech

[Refresh]: The refresh button will re-scan your Bibliotech data and list Call Numbers for all Marked items in Left Hand Side Window.

To select starting position for label printing:  On right hand side of window simply click in the preferred starting position on the grid.  Above the grid it will change from (1, 1) to (5, 3)  for example.  This means Column 5, Row 3.  The labels that will not be printed on, will be shaded.

To centre text within the label:  Click in the Centre Vertically, Horizontally or both check boxes.

Print Grid: If doing a test print you may wish to print a grid to see how the labels line up.  For normal printing leave this unchecked.

Number of each label:  This option allows you to print more than one label for each call number selected.  Simply change the value to the desired number of labels.

Splitting long lines: This option allows you to split long dewey numbers.  For example if you have a dewey number which is 495.6824075 OBE you have the following options

If Splitting long lines is UNCHECKED it will print like this:

If Splitting long lines is CHECKED it will print like this:

495.
6824075

Options à Configure Label Page

There will be some standard Label configurations already setup.  You may change these to suit your needs or add new ones.  The Libtech Spine Label program will remember your settings.

As the diagram below shows there are a number of margins and options that you may setup.

To change font:  click on the [Select Label Font] button.

To change Page format: select the desired Label Page Size and either Portrait or Landscape.

To change margins: change the values under the letters A – H  (details below)

A = Top Margin above first row of labels
B = Left Margin to left of first column
C = Distance from top of one row to the top of next row
D = Distance from left edge of a column to left edge of next column
E = Height of label
F = Width of label
G = Internal Top Margin of Label
H = Internal Left Margin of Label

NOTE: You also have the option of selecting whether or not to print on the outer edge labels.
The use of this option may be necessary if your printer cannot print up to the edge of the page.  Uncheck the "Can use Top or Bottom rows" and/or "Can use Left or Right columns", if your printer cannot print on these labels.

To use a particular label setup, click on the [SAVE] button.  This will save any changes you have made to the label configuration and close the configuration window.

Printing

Once you have setup your labels as desired.  Click on the [Print Labels] button.  The print preview window will appear.

 Setting up Printer Calibration (first time use and when changing printer)

If this is the first time you have used the Libtech Spine Label Printer you may need to calibrate your printer.  To do this [Print] a page on plain paper with the Grid Option ticked.  Adjust the top and left printer calibration settings accordingly.

To adjust the left margin: (ie. Move everything either left or right). To move left go down (negative value) and to move right, go up (positive value).

To adjust the top margin: (ie. Move everything either up or down).  To reduce the top margin, go down (negative value) and to increase the top margin, go up (positive value).

Print another page to plain paper to ensure that your call numbers line up in the labels.  Libtech will remember the calibration settings.
